Any registered voter can vote by absentee ballot at any time. They must first apply for an absentee ballot by completing the absentee ballot application form and returning it to the clerk's office. It must be signed and dated to be accepted. The clerk will then mail an absentee ballot to the address given on the application in advance of the next election.
By law, Michigan voters must apply for an absentee ballot for every election. Voters can request to be put on the permanent absentee ballot list which will trigger the automatic mailing of the application in advance of each election.
